First Impressions: Walking Into Nature’s Living Room
Alright, as I rocked up, the thing that stood out right away was the complete stillness. Actually, away from Arusha’s very busy energy, Lake Duluti is really like a serene bubble. Just imagine towering trees all around, their branches draped almost so far they’re touching the water. Basically, you’re instantly hit with the feeling that, at the end of the day, this is a place to really breathe deeply and also relax a little bit. Pretty cool, is that a variety of birdsong filled the air? Oh yes. Do these trees provide much-needed shade from the heat? They absolutely do!
Typically, the nature walk itself is actually super gentle, nothing really strenuous. You are walking on trails, winding through thick plant growth. In fact, guides often point out things about the local plants and how the local community uses them. Anyway, they know heaps of the bird species living there too. So too it is almost as interesting if you consider yourself pretty knowledgeable already; because there is usually always something you haven’t learned yet!
Canoeing on Emerald Waters: Peacefulness Personified
Honestly, if you get the chance, do the canoe trip. Seemingly, paddling on Lake Duluti is ridiculously peaceful. Actually, the water is almost always still, very reflecting the trees above. In some respects, that, coupled with only the gentle sound of your paddle dipping into the water, creates a seriously serene environment.
Anyway, a local guide joins you in the canoe and shares lots of facts. By the way, the lake formed in a volcanic crater. Also, some people believe it’s super deep – legends tell all kind of very, very different depths, which I thought was interesting! Seemingly, bird spotting from the canoe offers another angle, and that, with a bit of luck, you may spot monkeys in the tree cover on the water’s edge, too it’s almost.
Picnic by the Lake: Food with a View
Of course, many tours wrap up with a picnic by the lake. You get to sit by the water, and you get some tasty local eats. Anyway, I think the tranquility of your setting makes all the food just a little more enjoyable. Like your typical picnic might have sandwiches, fresh fruit, and maybe a local snack. Obviously, this part of the trip is very flexible, and can often depend on your preferences. Also, your operator.
